Pricing

Published prices. A subscription, a fee per passport, and hosting for the life of the battery.

Only four of nine European passport platforms published a price in September 2026. Compliance spend is non-discretionary and per unit, so we price it that way: a small brand starts under €500 a month, and a large importer's bill grows with every pack.

The Pro subscription and the hosting fee are being finalised with design partners and will be published before launch. Every plan includes registration and hosting; the per-passport fee below applies to all three.

Usage

Per passport, per record. The bill follows production.

€0.50–2.00
per passport issued, volume-priced. The rate falls with annual volume and is fixed in the order form.
Hosting
per hosted record per year, for as long as the law needs the record. The fee is published at launch.
Add-ons
Due-diligence pack before 18 August 2027. Recycled-content documentation before 18 August 2028. Carbon-footprint declaration workflow once its act lands.
Later
Compliance-as-a-service: managed data preparation and notified-body liaison for companies without a compliance team.
Why hosting is a line of its own. Article 78 says the record must remain available after the operator ceases to exist or leaves the Union. The Regulation sets no fixed retention period, and the passport ceases to exist only after the battery is recycled. Hosting is therefore priced per record and per year, not bundled into a contract term.
Worked example

A mid-sized e-bike brand.

A brand placing 20,000 packs a year on the EU market pays passport fees of about €20,000 a year at €1.00 per passport, plus the Pro subscription and hosting. The published alternatives are flat annual licences of €11,900 to €34,500 regardless of volume, or €17,988 a year for an enterprise vendor's basic tier.

Illustration only. The per-passport rate at that volume is agreed in the order form.

Questions

What people ask before they sign.

What counts as one passport?

One registered identifier for one battery placed on the market or put into service. Regenerating a passport for the same battery, for example after a state-of-health update, does not count again.

What if the 18 February 2027 date moves?

The Commission reaffirmed it in May 2026 and the Council's June 2026 omnibus mandate keeps it. If it moved, the QR, identifier, registry and hosting duties would remain, and your subscription would carry on unchanged. We do not sell the date; we sell the record.

What happens to hosting if we stop selling batteries?

The records stay hosted and available, which is what Article 78 requires of an authorised operator. You pay the hosting fee for the records under management, not a platform subscription.

Who holds the eIDAS credential for the registry?

CellHash registers on your behalf as authorised operator, so you do not need to complete eIDAS onboarding yourself. If you already hold a credential, you can register under it.

Do design partners pay?

Design partners from LMT and storage run the proof of concept on their own data before launch. Terms are agreed per partner and include launch pricing. Ask about the programme.

Is there public co-funding?

Catena-X's Data Space Accelerator offers €15,000 or €30,000 per company to about 1,000 SMEs in 2026. CellHash can act as the onboarding provider. Ask us about eligibility.
